Launched today, the new Horizon Europe project MELANGE will transform colouration practices in the European interior textile industry by moving colour design from the end to the beginning of the manufacturing process.

Over the next three years, MELANGE will lower the environmental impact of interior textile production by moving colour design to the beginning of the manufacturing process. From 4 to 6 August 2026, Textile ETP and Aalto University worked together in a design workshop dedicated to co-creating the visual identity of MELANGE, to explore how the project's core values (colour design, circularity and sustainable competitiveness) could be translated into a distinctive and coherent visual language.

Aalto University is leading MELANGE, a new project funded through Horizon Europe, that aims to transform colouration practices in the textile industry by moving key design decisions upstream – to the fibre stage of production. By advancing low-impact colouration technologies and promoting circular approaches to colour design, the project seeks to strengthen sustainable competitiveness in the European textile industry.
